Gamma-Ray Earth and Sky

This view is from the orbiting Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope’s Large Area Telescope. It shows the Earth’s gamma-ray glow flooding the edges of field. As NASA points out, Earth is actually the brightest source of gamma-rays, the most energetic form of light.
