Anwar al-Awlaki

Today I have an op-ed in the New York Times, arguing that killing Anwar al-Awlaki will likely do little to protect the US homeland from AQAP attacks and that instead the US should focus on the other, more dangerous men within the terrorist organization.

Men like Nasir al-Wihayshi, Qasim al-Raymi (who as operation chief likely had a key role in planning both the underwear bomb plot of last Christmas and last month’s parcel bombs), and Ibrahim Asiri (who constructed the bombs used in both attacks.)
