Must read

I have been a bit hard on some of the NY Times’ reporting coming out of Yemen lately, but I like to think that it is a loving criticism. Still, I couldn’t find anything to fault in this brilliant piece from the NY Times’ Mark Landler. If you only read one thing on Yemen this weekend, read this.

Foreign Policy’s David Kenner has this piece on AQAP’s most wanted that links to a number of things I have done both here at Waq al-waq and in other forums. I would, however, disagree with some of the individuals he selected.

For instance, I think ‘Adil al-‘Abab, Ibrahim al-Rubaysh and Muhammad al-Rashad are much more important than Anwar al-‘Awlaqi and Hizam Mujali.

But there is little argument on the top three: Nasir al-Wahayshi, Said Ali al-Shihri and Qasimal-Raymi. Although in my view, al-Raymi is the single most dangerous individual in the organization.
