Carlos González

I was born in 1968 in Valencia. I got a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Valencia in five years, two years before the rest of my friends. Then, I got a two-year Master in Business Administration from the University of Houston, Texas. Later on, in 2002 I recycled at IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain. So two things about my education: I am the ethernal learner, and then I keeps counting at everything in front of me.

After a small two year period working for Wolters Kluwer’s Spanish subsidiary, I joined Microsoft in Spain as internet product manager. Two years after, IE was the preferred browser for 75 % of internet users in Spain. Then, I took over Office and lead the adoption of Office 97 as the default productivity suite in most of the PCs. Then, tired about Y2K problems, I said ‘good-bye Microsoft, hello Terra Lycos’ and joined the Internet company’s management team. Four years later, I left holding one of those VP business cards that nobody took into account.

In 2004, I became the lead founding partner and managing director of ‘sonrissa digital memories’. As they liked to call after me, I am the 'monster creator' of the ‘sonrissa’ concept around digital photography, which won five consecutive business awards in 2006 but never got the financing and went bankrupt, so… I also hold the 'ultimate' master degree. Nevertheless, please, don’t ask me too loud.

Among the titles I am more proud of, you will find such a thing as son, ‘best compañero’, father, three-times ‘apadrinado’, philosopher, ex-husband, falla’s president, lover, sailor, diver, hurricane scapist… and some other that you would never find in a business card.
