Guru Madhavan
Guru Madhavan is a biomedical engineer and senior policy adviser. He conducts research at the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, Institute of Medicine, and the National Research Council--collectively known as the National Academies--in Washington, D.C. Among other awards and honors, Madhavan has been named one of the 'New Faces of Engineering' in USA Today and as a distinguished young scientist by the World Economic Forum. Madhavan is a co-editor of "Career Development in Bioengineering and Biotechnology" (Springer, 2008), "Pathological Altruism" (Oxford University Press, 2011), and a silver Nautilus Book Award winning "Practicing Sustainability" (Springer, 2012). He enjoys searching for black swans, and occasionally blogging as "The Barefoot Bioengineer."
His latest book is APPLIED MINDS: How Engineers Think (W.W. Norton & Co., Penguin Random House India among others).
