Senator Bill Bradley sits down with Big Think to discuss his latest book, We Can All Do Better, out in hardcover today, May 8, 2012. He talks about what it means to be American, and how that has changed since his grandfather’s time. “The middle class has really taken it on the chin,” he says. “There are millions of Americans living one paycheck from disaster.” The economic and political situation has taken its toll on American society. The lesson, according to Bradley, is that there’s no place for apathy in the digital age: “There’s no excuse for us not having citizens to force the political process.”

The interview was originally recorded and aired May 7, 2012.
