Youth Pill Within a Decade
What’s the Latest Development?
While immortality remains illusive, London researchers say that within ten years a pill could be available that allows people to grow old without suffering the side effects of diseases such as Alzheimer’s or heart disease. “Professor Partridge, of University College London, said: ‘I would be surprised if there weren’t things within ten years. If told you could take a drug that has minimal side-effects and that’s going to keep you healthy for another five or ten years and then you’ll drop off your perch without disability, most people would want it.'”
What’s the Big Idea?
Current genetic research promises improvement in both the quantity and quality of life. Earlier in the year, a breakthrough was achieved when a Harvard study reversed the aging process in mice. Today, aging scientists like Dr. Partridge expect that a pill will become available relatively soon that will extend life by five to ten years: “If told you could take a drug that has minimal side-effects and that’s going to keep you healthy for another five or ten years and then you’ll drop off your perch without disability, most people would want it.”
