From today Google will integrate song preview and purchase links in its search index so that users who enter music queries will be provided with a list of relevant songs from its partner companies MySpace and LaLa. Users can then play songs in preview and decide whether or not to buy and download the song. It has also partnered with streaming services Pandora, iMeem and Rhapsody to ensure users are exposed to new music. “Google’s universal search effort, through which the company has integrated different media types like video into a single search index, appears to be evolving into something that might be described as Google commercial search,” writes Information Week.
