The Beatles take on the roles of the “rude mechanicals,” performing the Pyramus and Thisbee scene from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in 1964.

In honor of Shakespeare's 400 birthday, the Fab Four performed the scene from "A Midsummer Night's Dream" for a TV special called "Around the Beatles." Aired originally on April 28, 1964, the skit was performed live with Paul and John as the ill-fated lovers Pyramus and Thisbe, respectively, with Ringo as the Lion and George as Moonshine.
