Jack Kerouac: Hoping to Live On After Death

"I hope it is true that a man can die and yet not only live in others, but give them life, and not only life, but that great consciousness of life."

Jack Kerouac (1922-1969) was an American writer commonly known as a pioneer of the Beat Generation. His most famous work is probably On the Road, a seminal novel in which Kerouac’s trademark prose — wild, rambling, and fraught with spontaneity — is prevalently featured. Kerouac died at the young age of 47 in St. Petersburg, Florida, after his body finally gave in to years of alcohol abuse.

“I hope it is true that a man can die and yet not only live in others, but give them life, and not only life, but that great consciousness of life.”
