An atheist couple is asking the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court to strike “under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance. 


But forget “under God.” Mary Elizabeth Williams at Salon argues that schools should scrap the whole thing: “Rote recitation, day in and day out, is ultimately meaningless.”
