I’m somebody who loves people.  I love meeting new people.  I love seeing old friends.  I love traveling around the world.  I once took a break after I had sold one company for an around-the-world trip.  I took nine months, and traveled all around the world to about 25 countries.  My main goal was not to have any goal, per se, at all, but to go visit a lot of friends.

I had seen a lot of these friends at conferences or at work gatherings or things like that.  Here was my opportunity to go see them at their homes, at their offices, and again, without any agenda whatsoever, just to see what would happen.

Sure enough, a tremendous number of things happened.  I went to China.  I saw friends in China.  And for the past 12 years I’ve now been involved in so many different programs in China, all from those initial serendipitous experiences.

For me, serendipity is about the chance encounters and the people and ideas that can really change this world.
