The office of the future is not going to look anything like the office of today. “Everyone’s going to be working on their own terms,” says Dan Schawbel, author of Promote Yourself: The New Rules For Career Success. In order to attract Millennials, companies will need to change their culture. That means workplace flexibility.

But this is a two-way street. Schawbel says Millennials are going to have to be accountable for their work and they’re going to have to deliver.

Nonetheless, companies need to start planning for succession right now. “If you don’t start thinking years in advance, you’re going to really miss out,” Schawbel says, “and it’s going to end up costing you more money and more time to be able to recover and your competitors are already going to take the Millennials from you.”
