We the People: Petition for Snowden Pardon Surpasses 100,000 Signatures

The White House is now bound to issue an official response to a petition on its We the People website after a request to pardon former NSA contractor Edward Snowden surpassed 100,000 signatures within the first month of its posting. 

Snowden’s whereabouts are unknown. He faces federal charges of espionage and theft of government property.

The petition, posted here, reads:

Edward Snowden is a national hero and should be immediately issued a a full, free, and absolute pardon for any crimes he has committed or may have committed related to blowing the whistle on secret NSA surveillance programs.

As of this writing, the petition has garnered over 113,000 signatures.
