Above, a unique perspective of the corner at Sullivan Pl and McKeever Pl in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn.

From 1913 to 1957, this corner was home to the Brooklyn Dodgers and Ebbets Field, until owner Walter O’Malley packed up everything and moved the entire enterprise to Los Angeles. It was on this city block that baseball history was made again and again and again. In 1947, the sport’s color barrier was broken at Ebbets Field when Jackie Robinson debuted as the Dodgers’ Opening Day first baseman. The intimate ballpark played host to many Dodger greats through the years including Robinson, Pee Wee Reese, Sandy Koufax, Duke Snider, Gil Hodges, and even – for a short time, apparently – the legendary Babe Ruth.
