Liberal Inequality

When cultural practices deny people equal access to rights such as education, physical and emotional well-being, we must cease to tolerate difference under the guise of multiculturalism, says secular author Susan Jacoby. The Left’s squeamishness when it comes to sober assessments of right and wrong between cultures not only tolerates unacceptable violence like female circumcision, but also pushes dissenting voices, such as the outspoke critic of Islam Ayaan Hirsi Ali, further to the political right on other issues. For example, the conservative American Enterprise Institute was the only think tank to offer Hirsi Ali a job, more liberal institutions apparently shirking at her clear stance against Islam.
