Weekend Diversion: Space Cats!

We spend all week together wondering and investigating the deepest mysteries of the Universe, and so — for a little balance — I’m always pleased to share with you something a little more concrete, entertaining and/or inspiring on the weekend, along with a little music. Although I can no longer share songs from my individual library with you, that doesn’t mean that the well’s run dry. In fact, let’s let the sounds of Drive-By Truckers share their rendition of that with you, via Spotify!

If you hang around here regularly, you might be familiar with the awe-inspiring photos of the Universe taken by amateurs and professionals all over the world, and occasionally from even out of this world! Well, someone had the brilliant idea to mash those up with the internet’s favorite photographic subjects: cats!

I’ve just discovered the twitter account @SpaceCatPics, and they’ve got some of the greatest composite images bringing together the wondrous depths of space as imaged by some of the greatest observatories and telescopes ever to exist.

With cats.

And cat memes.

And cat silliness.

And… I’m pretty sure I love it.

So check them out; they have some 200 images they’ve created to date, and even a clothing store for the most hardcore fans of Space Cats out there.
