No More Warcraft?

The Chinese version of popular internet-based game World of Warcraft could be forced to close after a government agency revoked the permit required to operate the game. Despite its popularity and the massive profits it makes for its creator Activism Blizzard, the Chinese agency believes that charging World of Warcraft players is a “gross violation” of Chinese law. Skeptics say the move simply part of the Chinese government’s continued jockeying for control over the web. “It is starting to make Chinese government officials look like laughing stocks. It would be funny, but think of all of the four million World of Warcraft addicts who aren’t getting their fix in China,” writes Venture Beat.
