Fashion guru Simon Doonan says Mark Zuckerberg’s personal style, “or rather lack of personal style, is very defining,” but also “very anti-fashion.” Doonan’s advice? “Go out and buy yourself a Dolce & Gabbana.”

Simon Doonan: Mark Zuckerberg’s personal style, or rather lack of personal style, is very defining and, you know, that’s what now techies want to look like—this super laissez faire, completely unconcerned, slightly disheveled . . . which is very anti-fashion.  It’s very sort of Eastern Block, if you know what I mean.  That’s sort of what people used to look like when they were living in East Germany under communist oppression.  So it’s not, like, a very exuberant, flamboyant look.  It’s not very celebratory.

You know, to sit at a desk and be a billionaire but look like you’re living in Kiev in 1976, it’s like, why, you know?  Go out and buy yourself a Dolce & Gabbana, you know, white mink chubby and get yourself a bit of flamboyant style.  I think that would be really fun.  Like, the techie world needs a Liberace, the techie world needs an Elton John, the techie world needs a David Bowie, a glam rock person, somebody with some sort of fearless flamboyance, because . . . it is a little dismal.  No offense—dismal.
