Baghdad Explosions
“Three bomb-rigged cars exploded in quick succession across Baghdad on Tuesday, killing at least 62 and wounding 105 others, a police source told Reuters. State-run Iraqiya television said the explosions occurred at a market in central Baghdad, near the Labor Ministry in northeastern Baghdad and another site in the center of the city. The three blasts appeared coordinated and occurred in a span of several minutes. There also were reports of other attacks around the capital — including a homicide attack in the Sunni area in southern Baghdad that killed at least three people — in potentially the worst day of violence in the city since late October when twin car bomb attacks outside municipal offices killed at least 155 people. In the southern Baghdad area of Dora, a homicide car bomber struck a police patrol, killing at least two policemen and a civilian and injuring five others, said a police officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to media.”
